Fruits of Guyana 2: Sumatoo
The small delicious fruit grown locally especially in Region 3. It is grown on vines and is green when it is not ready to pick. When it is ripe, it is usually has shades from a light yellow to a deep orange.
The seeds are consumed from this fruit.

I remembered eating this fruit when I was a little boy growing up on Punt Trench Dam. I can't find it anywhere in the states. I would love to know where I can find it to buy.

DeleteWe buy them all the time here in Ontario. Usually found in Asian stores. They call it passion fruit there

DeleteI haven't seen sumotoo in Guyana on my last few trips. It seems like passion fruit is more popular now.
